No point to this post really except maybe to exemplify why we do what we do. Ok sure Scruples was set up to rescue whippets from dire situations and our work in this area still continues. However there is very often a real human element in our rescues as is the case with Irv. We had an email recently from a lady who has to rehome her whippet Irvin. her personal circumstances have changed, she has obviously got masses on her plate and in February, Irv had an accident. It was touch and go for a dog that had a serious spinal injury at one point but he came through it and is making a good recovery. However, it seems that since the accident both he and his mum have had their confidence knocked and Irv now suffers at lot more seperation anxiety since than he did before, which as his mum needs to work makes her feel that she has to let him go to someone with more time to give him. I've now seen Irv and he is STUNNING. His owner is devastated at the decision she has had to make and I feel so awful for her. He will come in to foster with me and I go and collect him on Monday.
I don't want to go,
I don't want to take him from her.
I don't want him to go out of my house to someone else which will finally mean that he will no longer be hers.
I hate the really bad neglect cases believe me, but these cases get to me just as much, rescue can be SHIT at times. I dont think Irv will be any trouble to home, but please think of him but please think more of this poor lady who is doing best by her dog and ultimately by herself. Wish us all luck please,
Thanks for reading, Sharon x
