Apologies if this subject has already been covered elsewhere, but I wondered what Scruples's policy was on rescuing from (or at least investigating) dodgy looking ads for "free whippet", or for dogs that sound possibly neglected, on sites such as "Preloved".
It may be that the organisation has more than enough on its plate already, but I happened upon this site when looking for rescue organisations and a few of the ads are worrying. For instance, a 15 month old female whippet "Cassie" (white with brindle patches it seems from photo) in Southampton who is not fully house trained and so is offered free.
I know one small rescue can't take on every whippet in need, but wondered what was Scruples's general policy in this area. Thanks

Hallo Sorry not to have seen this before. Scruples will take into our care any whippet which might be at risk and if a bitch is being offered for free on a commercial site then she is, without doubt, at risk! We have always asked people to act on our behalf on these occasions as we cannot always respond to a situation in time so please feel free to enquire about such whippets being advertised. We will always offer full back up to them.

Thanks Jane for clarifying that.
I did leave a message for the young woman who owned this little bitch asking her to ring me back if she was still looking for a home and she hasn't yet so I presume she has rehomed her - lord knows to what but I hope to a good and loving home.
I didn't realise that Scruples's first whippet was the heavily pregnant Molly being advertised on one of these commercial sites. I've just had a wonderful walk with her and Bluebell and Clair, together with my two whippet boys. They just fell into the most natural pack - it was lovely to see.

I have been worrying about this also, what do we do if we see one thats not close to us ? Do we email scrulpes or put it on here? Can anybody look at the facebook page ? so it's not a good idea to alert every one to these free dogs. Atleast on here you have to be logged in. I have seen this poor dog being advertised as not neutered. www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1034804279/d33b7795.html
