I took Spooky for his annual boosters this morning, and he's now having what seems to be quite a bad reaction to it. He's very shivery, when standing up he's very wobbly, can't walk and hanging his head down so the tip of his nose is on the ground . His heart rate feels normal, and his gums are a good colour. I've now managed to get him into bed, and wrapped up in his blankies, but he's obviously in some discomfort. I've called the vets and been told that this is not unusual in some dogs, and to give it 24 hours unless his heart rate or gum colour changes. The poor boy can't even manage to stagger through to the lounge to snaffle the cat's food, so things are clearly not right! Has anyone else had this reaction with their dogs? Thanks! Terry x

My whippet had his boosters last week and for the first time he had the kennel cough vaccine as he had already had kc in the summer. The vaccine was on Tuesday, on Saturday morning he had kennel cough again! The vet thought he might have a reaction to the vaccine or had already got kc when he was vaccinated.

My Lola had a reaction to her booster this year. Lola was lethargic, looked miserable and couldn't manage to get onto the sofa with weak back legs, not bad enough to rush her back to the vets but we did stay up with her all night just incase, she was back to normal within 24-48 hours

Thank you for your replies and thank you Shelle3, I'm pleased to say that His Spookiness is now fully recovered and back to his usual self He managed to muster up enough strength late on Friday afternoon to wobble next door for a small afternoon biscuit with his best friend Katy the Collie. I advised against it, but he's a determined little so and so where biscuits are concerned By Saturday tea-time he'd made a full recovery, and poor Scout was denied any further ear-washing opportunities - he'd been too weak to resist her ministrations until then! The little horror had me quite worried there for a bit! Terry x
