Hi we're picking up a new puppy in a couple of weeks. As first time whippet (actually any dog) owners we keen to get it right, but there are so many options on what to buy when you go to the pet store that actually we are struggling to work out exactly what we need. So...
Collar or harness - does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations, advice they'd like to share. I'm quite happy to invest in things that Frankie puppy will need but don't want to waste cash buying stuff that we won't use.
Also how do coats and harnesses work - can they be used together? Sorry if this is a stupid question we're so inexperienced we've got no clue (but masses of enthusiasm)!

I use both our bull lurcher has a fleece lined harness, better i think for their thinner skin, that i fit over his coat although you can buy coats with a buttonhole for the D ring to come through. I use collar on the other three, greyhound and two whippets, the wider type so as to spread any pressure across their neck and i also have a separate collar on them all with their tags on, in the event they manage to slip the collar they still have ID. They are naked indoors, just my preference, as i don't like to feel a collar when i stroke their necks but all are also chipped. Whatever you decide just ensure it fits properly as i have seen them back out of collars and harnesses on more than one occasion Not sure if this applies to all but fit the collar behind the head as sometimes the lower neck is wider than the head at the ears
