Hello everyone
I've just booked a stand for scruples to have at buckham fair this year. Buckham fair is held by Martin clunes, on his land on Buckham down, Beaminster, Dorset, to raise money for charity. This year its for Dorset air ambulance.
They have a horse and dog show, as well as all sorts of different stands. Last year it was a massive success and thousands of people turned up. This year they are going to have a better traffic system in place and more parking to guarantee that they can all get in lol.
Anyway, my aim is to raise awareness of scruples, give people some info about the breed and raise money... all in a 9ft gazebo.
I am planning to take one or two calm, friendly, people loving whippets up with me, ones that will be able to cope with the day..... donations gratefully received. I would take my girl, but she may still be too hyper in Aug and I don't want to leave people thinking that all whippets have springs in their back legs and do a good impression of tigger.... she may calm a bit by Aug though...
I was also going to print out some info sheets about whippets and scruples and do a display of pictures.
Fundraising wise, I was going to do a guess the name of the cuddly toy whippet competition for children, and sell our scruples calendars. We will also have a collection tin on the stall.
Have you got any other ideas? What would draw you over to a stall and make you spend or give money. Bear in mind there will be lots of other doggy stalls there.
Also if there is anyone that wants to come and help for an hour or two please let me know. I can't get free passes for everyone, but the fair is rather cheap to get into.
Sorry I know august is still rather far away, I just like being organised.
Rachel.
