Hello, just joined the forum as we're on the lookout for a new hound. We currently have a little tripod Lurcher who is whippet x staffie. Dory is about 8 years old now and I found her over 4 years ago with a couple of my work colleagues. When found she was starved and with all the bones exposed on her legs, the vet said it was an injury that had to have been caused by a snare. We did try to save her leg, but in the end she had to have it amputated. So she's now perfectly happy as a tripod. Until a couple of weeks ago Dory always lived with Ben our old Black Lab Cross, but sadly we had to have him PTS as old age caught up with him. Dory is completely lost without him, so we're looking for a new companion for her. Here's Dory.

Since I posted this we found a new companion for Dory through Lurcher Link. Dory is now best friends with a 6 year old Lurcher lad called Harry. We've also been busy moving house and are tentatively thinking about the possibility of a third dog. Here's Harry. Plus Dory says 'peep!'

So happy you found Dory a pal. We are on IOW, and recently went thro same problem, lost our gorgeous little blue whippet Lulu, our other whippet Freddie was distraught, so we got Bella. Best of luck to your new person. Mike.

Hi Carrie, I've just recently joined the forum too. We live in Cheshire but love visiting the island at least once a year. Whereabouts are you? We usually stay in Cowes/Gurnard but always go over to Ventnor to give our two whippets a run on the beach before retreating to the Spy Glass for refreshments. Ann

Hi Ann, I used to live in Cheshire. We're pretty much slap bang in the middle of the Island. Beaches we go to most often are Yaverland and Ryde Sands. We were over at Ventnor at the weekend, there was a Christmas Fayre on at the Botanic Gardens, so took the dogs along to that.

Mike, wonder if I spoke to you about a homecheck, but you'd already got a new whippet at that point.

As the forum is getting more active I thought I'd update this topic. We decided that the time was right to get a third dog, so back in April Toby came from Scruples to start his new life on the Island with Dory and Harry.
