I'm Julie, I am very new to all things Scruples. Have just registered with them and had my home check. At the moment we don't have any dogs but hope to be the brand new parents of a young whippet or lurcher (preferably beddy whippet) in the summer. I'm looking forward to learning all about other peoples experiences to help when we get our little one.

Hi Julie, I have never owned a dog but have wanted to for 35 years - finally things seems to be right for looking. Both myself and my hubby have fallen big style for the wonderful whippet - I think it was a weekend away with friends in Norfolk that did it- prolonged contact with the lovely Ripley and her fantastic super fast running rings around us whilst rambling, combined with the most sweet (if slightly naughty) temperament. Now we just have to consider whether our aged cat should be put through it! Or do we wait until a time when we no longer enjoy his company . Also....do we get a puppy or a rescue dog?? I'm interested what people suggest liz

Get a rescue !! There are loads of dogs wanting homes and you get to see the adult version straight away. Pups are lovely, but you do encourage people to breed more by buying them. We have 5 dogs and the best two for temperarment are the rescues !
