Just cross posting Junes thread from our old forum so nobody misses out on this:
Just letting you all know that there is a Whippet Racing open on Easter Sunday at Weyhill Fair, Weyhill, Near Andover. It is on the field behind the pub (Weyhill Fair) - that's handy then!
The racing will start at 12pm, and should be a really good day. Jane is hoping to come, and Sharon too I think. We have lots of dog food sponsors, and whippet racers normally sponsor weight groups too. If you haven't seen whippet racing, this is your chance to come and see these beautiful dogs, doing what they love best.
For those of you who don't know, there is no money changing hands in pedigree whippet racing. We race for trophies only, and no betting is allowed. This is good for the dogs welfare, and doesn't attract the "win at any cost" brigade. Our dogs are all pets first, and race for fun. I have slow dogs as well as fast, and the slow ones are just as much loved as the others.
Come along if you can - you will enjoy it!
